It’s Time for Another Good Idea/Bad Idea

Good Idea:

 

Answering a question in a manner that shows where you stand on an issue and that demonstrates that you give a flying fuck about the people you are working for.  Let me give you an excellent example, as in Ms. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on when do babies get full human rights:

I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition. And Senator–St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know. The point is, is that it shouldn’t have an impact on the woman’s right to choose. Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child–first trimester, certain considerations; second trimester; not so third trimester. There’s very clear distinctions. This isn’t about abortion on demand, it’s about a careful, careful consideration of all factors and–to–that a woman has to make with her doctor and her god. And so I don’t think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins.

Exactly, the only business a bunch of congresspersons w/ penises have dealing w/ abortion is making sure that it stays safe and legal and accessible for those who need or want them.  Women and women alone are capable of making complex decisions weighing all factors when it comes to what will or will not grow inside of their bodies. Petulant has the rest of that interview, and while I get a little leery at times w/ Ms. Pelosi, she has the ovaries to state the issue and not hem and haw around it for the sake of evangelicals.

 

Bad Idea:

Not really answering the question at all.

Same question much earlier posed to presumed Democratic nominee Obama.

Well, you know, I think that whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is, is above my pay grade.

 

Above your pay grade?  PotUSA doesn’t allow for much more pay grade room.  Mr. Obama, your potential voters are looking to you to know that you will protect them and their bodies and do what is needed to ensure that no one can take away their autonomy and choices.  Step up already.

 

No, if he loses this election the fault lies squarely w/ him.
